"Tennessee"

Poppy cackled
from his cracked wood
unpainted porch
and spit a stream.

The boy perched
stalking game still,
crouching in the meadow,
aiming to catch him a lark.

Poppy cackled,
"You a sight boy,
you a sight,"
flushing his prey.
